The Orcs are attacking! Get that oil boiling!
The fearsome Orc armies have held the castle
under siege for days - but now, becomming
impatient, they are mounting a bloody attack.

Under a hail of crossbows, you hurl rocks from
the parapet. Another evil Orc flattened! But
there are too many of them and they soon
have their scaling ladders erected and are
within a dagger's reach of you. As they
fearless stab at you, wounding you slighly,
you grab your faithful broadsword and hack
off their nasty heads. Another Orc bites the
dust!

At last the oil has boiled, and you pour gallons
at the scalding liguid over the attacking horde.
That gives you time to breathe as you watch
your enemies consumed by flames. But not for
long...

Out of thin air a Sorcerer appears, casting
spells and willing the evil spirits under his
command to rise up and attack you. With the
living dead despatched into the nether world
where they belong, you still have to face the
dreaded Stone Warts, the clever Ninja Orcs
and the gigantic Demon Trols.

Can you save the castle from this vile alliance?

How to play

1. Pressing the F1 key alternates between the
one, two, three or four player games, as
displayed on the screen

2. Pressing the F3 key enables you to skip
early rounds of the game and start at a more
difficult round. You may start on any of rounds
one to six in this way.

3. When you have selected the game you
require press the F5 key to begin.

4. Pressing F7 will take you back to the title
page any time during the game.

The Display

1. At the top of the screen is displayed the
score of the current player (ie. player one, two,
three or four) and the round number for that
player.

2. Also at the top of the screen is displayed the
number of lives left to the current player -
each player starts with two lives - and the
number of wounds which must be inflicted on
that player before the next life will be lost. (This
counts down from nine.) The display starts at
1/9.

3. At the end of the game, the scores of all the
players and the high score will be displayed in
sequence. If the high score has been attained
during that game, the corresponding player
score will be highlighted.

Rules

1. You must defend yourself and your
castle from the attacking Orcs and their
evil allies. You have several weapons to hand
- rocks, sword and boiling oil.

2. Race along the battlements (using the
joy-stick) and pick up weapons which are
available at either end of the battlements, and
are indicated by symbols.

3. Before dropping the rocks or pouring the
oil, find an open space in the battlements,
then press the fire button.

4. Any Orc which manages to reach the top
of his scaling ladder will attack you with its
dagger. To defend yourself, you must use your
sword; press the fire button to kill - or at
least injure - the Orc. To inflict a really
strong blow, press the joystick towards you
at the same time; this will certainly kill the
Orc, but you are only allowed a limited number
of these super blows.

5. An Orc who reaches the top of his scaling
ladder has a better chance of stabbing you
if your finger is on the fire button. If they
stay in this position for any length of time, they
become more deadly an can injure you wherever you
are on the parabel - so don't delay your attack!

6. Press the fire button to slow down and aim
accurately as you run along the battlements.

7. Beware of Ninja Orcs, which may appear at any
time; they can climb the castle walls without the
aid of ladders, and you cannot harm them with rocks!

8. If you get the time to pour boiling oil over the
attacking Orcs, all the Orcs in that assault will be
killed, and the next round will then begin. A pyramid
of dead bodies will form at the bottom of the screen;
according to the number of Orcs slain; you will then
receive a bonus related to this number and the number
of the round.

9. The game becomes increasingly difficult with each
round; as the Orcs allies join the assault. It ends when
you have lost both your lives, ie. when your life count
is zero and your wound count is below zero.

10. At scores of 20.000, 50.000, 100.000 and 250.000
you will quality for an extra life. Performing one
of the following brave deeds will earn an extra life:
killing all the spirits, killing the sorcerer, hitting
two dreaded Stone Warts with one rock, or completing
the body count pyramid.
